Solo exhibition: Cristea Roberts Gallery

'Volcano' features large drawings and a monumental woodcut and explores the dynamic terrain of volcanic landscape. The work is made in response to Stibbon's residency on the rim of one of the world’s most active volcanoes where she was artist in residence at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park on Hawaii’s Big Island, living and working among the sacred and storied volcanoes of Kilauea, and Mauna Loa, the largest volcano on earth.
The exhibition includes a four part woodblock print, ‘Caldera Overlook’. Pubished by Cristea Roberts Gallery, the woodcut is her largest work to date, measuring 212 x 94.5 cms. Depicting the crater’s glow through the lush rain forest, it serves as a reminder that despite the volcano’s destructive power there is renewal. A 38 page catalogue accompanies the exhibition with an interview between Helen Waters and the artist.
