Wild Lands
My interest in geological transformation and landscapes that offer massive scale and an open horizon have taken me on several research trips to the Americas. In Arizona and Utah I experienced being in one of the largest areas of designated wilderness. The extreme and varied desert terrain inspired me to make a series of prints exploring geological features including canyons, mesas and craters.
Other works address the immersive scale and drama of geological formations such as the woodcut 'El Chorro' which depicts the stratified limestone of a natural chasm cut by the Guadalhorce river in Spain.
